The organised relief work was started by our GREAT Master Late DEBABRATA Gupta,along with his colleague Prabir Dutta in 1980. Who drew inspiration for their humanitarian services from our forefathers. The Master used to say,‘If God can be worshiped in an image, can He not be worshiped in a living person?’ So we literally transformed relief and rehabilitation into acts of worship.it is pleasing to note that thereare many other organizations inspired by our work, started conducting relief operations in India today. In nineteenth century, when we started its first relief work, there were hardly any other organized services in the field. Disaster management, primary relief is now considered as a small part of relief, prompt and efficient rescue and relief, socio-economic and psychological rehabilitation of the victims are all important priorities. Incorporation of efficient developmental models and environmental safeguards in the rehabilitation programme are also important issues. Sabuj Sangha tries to realistically address many of these issues in its relief and rehabilitation programmes.
